NBC cancels 'Awake' (and 3 others)
Time to close your eyes for good, Awake: The Jason Isaacs drama did not earn a pickup for fall after a lackluster first season. It only averaged 5.07 million.
NBC also said ta-ta to Are You There, Chelsea (3.34 million), Best Friends Forever (3.34 million), and Bent (3.05 million), three other comedies that failed to gain any traction this season.
The cancellations weren’t exactly a surprise, but then again — NBC just picked up another season of Whitney so Isaacs or Chelsea Handler could have received a stay of execution. NBC will present its fall lineup to advertisers on Monday in New York.
